December 2011 / January 2012 [29 Dec @ 10:55am]

Dear all Players, Parents, Managers, Coaches, Supporters and Friends,

Well another year is coming to an end and with the end of the clubs 29th year of existance and into a special 30th Year with lots of Celebrations to be had.

Chantry Grasshoppers FC was born in 1982 and with the club still going where as other clubs in our local Ipswich area have come, played and now ceased to be clubs anymore.

When I took over as secretary many years ago the club had about 3 teams and we had in the past gone down to just 1 team and slowly year on year increased the members and teams in the club and now we find ourselves counting the Mini Soccer Saturday teams as 2 we can feel extremely proud of OUR club now having 16 teams playing under the club name.

GIRLS SECTION - LIFT OFF !!
Our Girls Section has taken off and we now have two teams playing in that section of the club and look to the future to further increase and develop this side of the club in the coming years.

2011/2012 NEW TEAMS
2011 was a great year for the club not only did we manage to start a New Under 8's team Managed by Nigel Mallitt from Mini Hoppers but we also started a New Under 10's Sunday team with Carl and Craig in control along with a new Under 10's Girls Team Managed by Steve Rudland and we also welcomed Mark Warden to the club with a new Under 14's Sky "B" team.

FA CHARTER STANDARD CLUB MARK
After months of work from Lorraine, myself and all the managers and coaches we finally secured FA Charter Standard Club Mark in October 2011. Lots of hard work went into the award and something that is for the ongoing success of the club.

CHILD WELFARE OFFICER
Unfortunately Lorraine Kett our Child Welfare Officer stepped down from the role of CWO in October however I would like to Thank Lorraine for her help in the role and hope that her role within the SSYL will be as well received as it was within our club. If anyone is interested in the role please get in touch !!

CHRISTMAS PARTY
In early December 2011 Danny Jones organised a very successful FIRST Hoppers xmas party for the children in the club to enjoy with over 50 children attending with a disco and lots of party games and food and drink was on offer. Thanks to Danny for arranging this event and to Abacus Disco for a fab afternoon of music and games. We have already booked the 2012 venue and disco for the same weekend in December 2012 which we hope will be a BIGGER event for more teams to come along and enjoy !!

THE FUTURE
We look to continue to grow the club with new Under 8's Mixed team ready and waiting to start their football lifes in 2012. We also look to build the club with the addition of further teams. We would like to again start an ADULT football team and maybe for the future ladies football or a veterans team for the older parents in the club.

SOCIAL/FUNDRAISING UPDATE
We now have secured the services of Danny Jones who is now busily looking for new events to arrange and organise for 2012. Firstly a Race Night for 18th February 2012 is arranged followed by End of Season Presentation, A 2012 Hoppers 30th Birthday Tournament as well as a 30th Birthday ball in November 2012. Lots to plan and we hope lots of parents will be interested in helping out ?

PENDLE FOOTBALL KIT/CLUB WEAR

April 2011 [7 Apr @ 11:00pm]

Crumbs time flies when you run a Youth Football Team one minute your preparing your team then the season starts and the winter weather starts and before anytime Christmas comes and goes then onto the rest of the season then usually the fun trying to book postponed games into be played. This season doesn't seem to have been as bad as some but maybe the leagues could look at moving more games into the early weeks of the season and if we have any gaps at the end we can fit in some friendlies then. The club is looking forward to its next event with the Friday 20th May 2011 Chantry Grasshoppers Over 18's Quiz night arranged at The Willows Primary School, Downing Close, Ipswich with a doors open at 7pm and Quiz starts 7.30pm we have a Licensed Bar for the night and light nibbles will be available. Teams of 4 are £10 per team and entry forms can be found on the Club Documents side of this site. Just two days later we have the chantry Grasshoppers FC End of Season presentation day which we hope that as many Managers, Club officials, Players and parents will be able to come along and enjoy the end of season afternoon with us We are holding it again at the YM Rugby Club in Rushmere with a 2pm onwards start. We have Burgers, Bouncy Castles, Stalls, Raffle, Ye Olde Sweet Shop, Ice Cream and much much more. If you have any raffle prizes that you would like to donate either bring them along on the day or contact me Nick Ward on 07801968655. We are hoping that after the success of last season you will come and support the club. Preparations for next season have already started with the club looking to start new Under 8's Saturday team again from the Mini Hoppers section along with a NEW Under 10's team on a Sunday. We had also hoped to start a new Under 10's Girls team. The club now has its FIRST CLUB SHOP up and running so if you fancy a piece of clothing with the Hoppers Logo then you can purchase it from this site links on the news panel. It is now that wonderful time of the season when the season comes to an end and the players merry-go-round begins with players beginning to move from club to club however just a reminder to our teams and others that 7 day approach letters still apply until 31st May 2011 and Chantry Grasshoppers FC takes a dime view on any team looking to approach any of their players without following the correct proceedures and will take steps with the local leagues and/or Suffolk FA should any players be approached without above being followed. Have a Great Easter and see you all at the events in May 2011 Cheers Nick Ward Chantry Grasshoppers FC Chairman/Secretary

December 2010 / January 2011 [11 Jan @ 11:15pm]

Welcome to second Chairmans report for the months of December and January 2011 May I take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy New Year 2011 The club is well into the season and I am happy to report that the club is building for the future we continue to be asked if we would like to run more and more teams and with more teams comes more work but it is in fact our managers that complete all the during season match paperwork etc so this takes a huge burden off the club secretary (myself) Just before Christmas we held our first social event that was attended by well over 100 people and a good evening was had by all thanks to Sarah Page and her team for arranging this event. We look into 2011 with the confidence to look at arranging our 2011 7 a side tournament for the club which we hope to arrange in June/July 2011 going on from our first successful tournament back in 2009 we are hoping that our 2011 one will be supported as well as the first however we hope to arrange a TWO day tournament over a particular weekend. We are also planning on again arranging a 2011 End of Season Presentation day for the entire club with the mini hoppers along with 11 other teams it is going to be a big event but one we hope that you will all support. Dates/Venue To be confirmed asap. A club of our size does not succeed without funding mainly through parents and players but also through the various events that the club is looking to arrange last year the presentation day was arranged and we did not charge for entry and again we hope that the event will be supported on the same basis however it will depend on the weather as last year was fantastic so fingers crossed for another good day. If any one would like to get involved in helping with any stalls, bouncy castles or entertainment then please let me know. The club are already planning for the 2011/2012 season and are already looking to expand out teams further a new Under 8's team will be coming from our superb Mini Hoppers section along with hopefully two further girls teams at Under 10 and Under 12 levels so please let me know if you have any year 3,4,5,6 girls who would like to play regular football for our club. So if you would like to help in any way please let me know Thanks again Nick Ward e-mail froggernelaine@aol.com

November 2010 [21 Nov @ 12:00am]

Welcome to first Chairmans report for the month of November Well the season is now in full swing and all the teams seem to be doing well with not many problems within the club. At a recent managers meeting we discussed lots of matters arising but the main ones addressed were concerning FA Codes of conduct which all parents and players are asked to sign and then the managers will return these to the Club Welfare officer. All parents are kindly asked that when attending games that they ensure that comments are kept to positive ones as any foul, abusive and swearing will be dealt with by the club and those personel can be either warned, issued a written warning, banned from attending games or for the worst matters even banned or asked to leave the club. I continue to be asked who are the club officials and who do we contact for any problems. Well all the club officials details are available from the Home Page and we hope you will contact us if you have any problems with either the team that you follow or any other aspects of the club. My name is Nick Ward and I am the Club Chairman and Secretary I am also the current Under 11's Saturday manager and most of my week is dealing with all the good and bad matters needing to be resolved. I have been in these roles for more years than I can remember but also ran Hoppers teams at Under12/13/14 and then 12/13/14 levels again before taking up a Under 8s team that are now Under 11 this season. I am a Season ticket holder at Ipswich Town and are also a Level 7 qualified referee though I haven't been able to take up the whistle that often due to running a saturday side. Our Club Welfare Officer is Lorraine Kett who can also be found on the Club Contact details screen. lorraine can be contacted for ALL aspects of CHILD WELFARE so if you have any concerns please address them to Lorriane. Our club President is Terry Ward who oversees the running of the club and has had a vast amount of experience as he has also ran teams for Hoppers from Under 12's to mens football and also the early years of the mens team that made their way up from Division 12 to the old 2nd division before a reserve side was ran and then both teams were unable to continue. Our Club treasurer is Elaine Ward who has been doing the role for a number of years keeping the teams accounts in order and ensuring that we keep to the Suffolk FA rules and regulations. We also have our Team managers, coaches and other officials to ensure a club of our side continues. We also have a fantastic band of players, supporters and friends that help to keep the teams moving. I would like to wish you all a happy season and hope that you will get in touch for any matters needing a reply. Nick Ward Tel 07801968655 e-mail froggernelaine@aol.com
